Improvising with the Ionian mode (AKA Major scale). I am presenting you with some more creative ideas that will hopefully break up the sound for you a little bit.

This lesson is based on the Ionian mode. We analyze it and learn how to identify it. Also, it will be used as a tool for a brief solo and harmonic approach!

Learning scale boxes can be very boring and that's why I created this lesson for all those who want to learn scale boxes and want to do it having fun and practicing not only boxes but also licks. Alternate picking, some string skipping, licks built of 6-tuplets.

In this lesson we will study an improvisation that will use the Phrygian mode, and the Ionian mode (aka Major scale). The key is in G and the track modulates from G Phrygian to G major. The following licks are not very technical, but are there to show you how to build musical ideas that are built around the chords.

In the previous lesson we discussed how we could use the pentatonic formula and apply it to the modes. Today we will use that concept over an A Ionian scale and combine that pentatonic scale with the full Major scale to create a melodic solo.

Harmonize any note of the arpeggio with triads. The idea is that you can play a melody harmonize at the same time.

Learn six notes per string major scales

A workout played only on the B string covering all 7 boxes. This is a good way to understand the relation between semi and whole notes in any major scale.

In this etude we use the harmony from 'Someday My Prince Will Come' to strengthen our upstroke picking.
